Menopause Mastery respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us.
This Privacy Policy explains how Menopause Mastery collects, uses, stores and protects personal information when you use our website, contact us, complete our symptom checker, request a symptom report, subscribe to communications or otherwise interact with us.
We process personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”) and other applicable South African laws relating to privacy and data protection. POPIA establishes minimum requirements for the lawful processing of personal information by public and private bodies.
1. Who we are
For purposes of this Privacy Policy, Menopause Mastery is the responsible party for personal information collected through this website.
References in this policy to “Menopause Mastery”, “we”, “us” or “our” refer to the person or legal entity operating Menopause Mastery.
2. What personal information we collect
The information we collect depends on how you use the website.
Contacting Menopause Mastery
When you contact us through the website or another communication channel, we may collect information such as:
- your name;
- email address;
- telephone number;
- the contents of your message;
- information you voluntarily provide about your circumstances or menopause experience; and
- any subsequent correspondence between you and Menopause Mastery.
Menopause symptom checker
When you use the Menopause Mastery symptom checker, you may provide responses concerning symptoms you are experiencing.
These responses may relate to your health, wellbeing and sexual health and may therefore constitute special personal information under POPIA.
The symptom checker currently processes your symptom responses for the purpose of:
- generating your personal symptom snapshot;
- grouping symptoms according to the severity levels you select;
- creating a printable report; and
- emailing the report to you when you request it.
Your individual symptom selections are not stored in the Menopause Mastery symptom checker database.
They are processed temporarily in order to generate and, where requested, send your report.
If you choose to email the report to yourself, the report content must necessarily be processed through the website and its email delivery systems. A copy may consequently be retained temporarily by hosting, email or communications service providers in accordance with their own technical and retention arrangements.
The emailed copy may also remain in your own email account until you delete it.
3. Information stored when you request a report
If you ask us to email your symptom snapshot to you, the system may retain:
- your email address;
- the date and time you gave consent;
- confirmation that the privacy consent checkbox was accepted;
- the wording or version of the consent statement that applied at the time;
- whether you separately opted into marketing communications;
- the page from which the report was requested;
- the date of your most recent report request; and
- the number of reports successfully sent to that email address.
We deliberately minimise the information stored by the symptom checker and do not use its database to retain your individual symptom answers.
4. Why we process your information
We may process your personal information for the following purposes:
- to provide information, resources and services requested by you;
- to respond to enquiries;
- to generate your symptom snapshot;
- to send your symptom report to the email address you provide;
- to keep an appropriate record of consent;
- to administer and secure the website;
- to diagnose technical problems and prevent misuse;
- to improve our services and website;
- to comply with applicable legal or regulatory obligations; and
- where you have separately agreed, to send you Menopause Mastery news, information, resources, events, services or other communications.
We will not use personal information collected for one purpose for an unrelated purpose unless we have an appropriate lawful basis to do so.
POPIA requires personal information to be collected for a specific, explicitly defined and lawful purpose and generally requires information not to be retained longer than necessary for that purpose.
5. Consent and the symptom checker
Participation in the Menopause Mastery symptom checker is voluntary.
Before emailing a symptom report, we require you to confirm that you consent to the processing necessary to provide that service.
Because your symptom responses may constitute special personal information, they are processed only for the purpose of providing the symptom-checking service and report you have requested.
You may choose not to provide your email address. You can still complete the checker and view your snapshot on screen without joining a mailing list.
6. Marketing communications
Consent to receive a symptom report and consent to receive marketing communications are treated separately.
Requesting your symptom report does not automatically subscribe you to marketing communications.
You will only be added to Menopause Mastery’s marketing communications where you separately choose to opt in.
You may withdraw your marketing consent or unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time by:
- using the unsubscribe option contained in an email; or
- contacting Menopause Mastery directly.
Withdrawing marketing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing that took place before consent was withdrawn.
POPIA includes specific protections relating to unsolicited electronic communications and provides data subjects with rights concerning the processing of their personal information.
7. Contact forms
Our website provides forms that allow you to contact Menopause Mastery.
Information submitted through a contact form may include your name, email address, telephone number, message and any information you voluntarily choose to provide.
Please be aware that information about your health or personal circumstances that you voluntarily include in a message may be sensitive.
We use this information primarily to respond to your enquiry and provide the assistance or information you have requested.
8. Website security and spam prevention
The website may use security and anti-spam technologies to protect forms and services from abuse.

In particular:

Where you opt into communications, we may retain your contact information until you unsubscribe, withdraw your consent or the information is no longer required.
Contact enquiries:
Correspondence may be retained for a reasonable period where necessary to deal with your enquiry, maintain appropriate business records or meet legal obligations.
Once information is no longer reasonably required, it will be deleted, destroyed or de-identified where appropriate.
13. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational precautions to protect personal information against:
- loss;
- misuse;
- unauthorised access;
- unauthorised disclosure;
- alteration; and
- destruction.
These measures may include access controls, website security systems, software updates, secure hosting, restricted administrative access and appropriate backup procedures.
However, no website, email system or method of electronic transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
14. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to:
